Stop sabotaging Fayemi, group warns Fayose

A rights advocacy group, Integrity Leadership Organisation, has warned Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State over alleged sabotage activities against the Governor-Elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, saying taking steps that will hamper his successor’s administration in discharging its responsibilities to the people is not only “unpatriotic but also grossly irresponsible”.
A statement by its Ekiti State Coordinator, Lekan Oyediran, alleged that Fayose had listed serial sabotage measures through which the incoming administration will find it extremely difficult to succeed in its development programmes.
Oyediran said the group had discovered that the governor had concluded plans to promote all officers in the administration cadre by one step across board with dire consequences on the wage bill just to create a harsh condition for Fayemi to face the challenges of salary payment.
He explained: “After thorough investigations on why Fayose decided to employ thousands of people and approved promotions indiscriminately on the eve of his departure from office, we found out that Fayose deliberately wants to create harsh conditions for his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to cause his administration headache from the beginning.
“In the course of our investigation too, we discovered that right now, Fayose has concluded arrangement to promote all staff in administrative cadre from Grade Levels Eight to 16 in a manner that all staff on Level 8 will automatically move to Level Nine and those on Level Nine will move to Level 10 and so on, all this without promotion interviews because the target is to hurt Fayemi in salary payment capacity.
“Our investigation also confirmed that right now, the promotion letters are ready in the office of the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission for release to the beneficiaries.
“To ensure the legitimacy of the promotion, Fayose deployed an emissary to Abuja in search of a particular circular to back up his action, which he never did for four years as the governor.
“We find Fayose’s conduct as vindictive, unpatriotic and grossly irresponsible leadership trait that adds no value to the well-being of the society.
“It is unfortunate and disgusting that a supposed leader will turn a personal battle with Fayemi over loss of election to the war against the state because hurting Fayemi in salary payment capacity is a declaration of war against Ekiti State that runs its economy with salary payment.
“We urge political appointees and other officials of government who are Fayose’s agents in all these illegal schemes to remember that they will be the most hurt when the implementation of Fayose’s traps take effect from October 16, 2018 when Fayemi assumes the leadership of the state while Fayose will continue to enjoy himself outside the office.”
