Soldiers kill nine Boko Haram members

Nine members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, were on Thursday killed by solders of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Borno State.
Earlier in the week, 26 of them were killed in encounters with the military.
A statement on Friday by the spokesman of the 7 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Dole, said the encounter with the insurgents took place along the Rimanti-Allagarno Road in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Dole said in the statement: “In a midnight encounter with Boko Haram insurgents, troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army killed Boko Haram terrorists while others fled with various degrees of injuries along Rimanti-Allagarno Road in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday 14 November 2013.
“Likewise, during the encounter, large arms and ammunitions were recovered and 2 pick-up vehicles were destroyed. Among the items recovered are: a pick up vehicle and 2 motorcycles. A soldier was wounded in action but he is receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.”
Dole said the troops have intensified robust patrols deep inside the forest area of Damboa and Gwoza Local Government Areas so as to reach remote and isolated towns and villages with a view to preventing further incessant attacks by the insurgents.
He said the insurgents were now desperate and frustrated as their camps, hideouts and vehicles were being destroyed and their arms seized by troops.
The General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Obidah Ethan, has expressed gratitude for the resilience and cooperation of the general public and citizens of Borno State for their efforts in exposing the nefarious activities of the terrorists.
