Singer Seun Kuti has reacted after Pope Francis said sex outside marriage is “not the most serious sin”.
The Independent of the UK had quoted 84-year-old Pope Francis as saying: “Sins of the flesh are not the most serious.”
He added: “Pride and hatred are the most serious.”
Pope Francis said this in answer to a question about the Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit, who resigned last week over an ambiguous relationship with a woman.
Reacting to the Pope’s statement, Kuti referred to the Catholic Church leader as a “bad boy”, while noting that couples should forgive each other when one party cheats.
He wrote: “Pope say it is not so bad to commit adultery (bad boy).
“So wives forgive your husbands but more importantly, husbands forgive your wives.”
