The Magaji Are, Alhaji Aremu Zubair, and the Afonja Descendants Union of the Idi-Ape community in Ilorin East Local Government area of Kwara State have dissociated themselves and the community from a purported newspaper publication credited to one Alhaji Olola Kassum against the emergence of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate.
Briefing newsmen at Idi-Ape quarters, Ilorin, Alhaji Zubair said the community had been enjoying robust relationship and support of Senator Saraki and no worthy member of the community would stand against his emergence as the Senate president.
He described the originator of the report as a controversial person whose opinion could not represent that of Idi-Ape and promised that the community would take necessary actions to avert the re-occurence of such publication.
Similarly, the General Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Hassan Amao, disclosed that the Union had not held a meeting in the last eight months let alone of taking a position against Saraki, pointing out that what Kassum purportedly said could not represent the position of the Union or that of the community but his personal opinion.
Corroborating, the Assistant General Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Isiaka Owolabi, maintained that the Union was contended with and proud of the political progress of Saraki.
Owolabi commended the State Government for its support for the Afonja dynasty.
Also speaking, the Secretary, Mogaji Area Elders Forum of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Saka Awayewasere, said the Elders were shocked with the publication.
Alhaji Awayewasere said Alhaji Kazeem was never a card carrying member of the APC and enjoined the public to disregard the self-acclaimed publication.
