Members of the Super Eagles held their first training on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State ahead of Saturday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
The training session started at 5pm and was opened to the general public.
The players that took part in the session were Skipper John Obi Mikel, Elderson Echiejile, Odion Ighalo, Williams Troost Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Musa, Abdullahi Shehu, Mikel Agu, Wilfried Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Mikel Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo.
Others are; Anthony Nwakaeme, Ikechuchukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi, Uche Agbo, Onazi Ogenyi, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Ola Aina and Chidozie Awaziem.
Home-based stars Afeez Aremu and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, who are on standby, were involved in the session.
However, the team’s next two trainings will be closed to allow Coach Gernot Rohr work on the tactics he will employ against Zambia on Saturday.
Nigeria top Group B with 10 points from four matches.
They are three points clear of second-placed Zambia, who will need a result to at least take the qualification to the final rounds of qualifiers on November 6.
