Residents of Victoria Island and Lekki are living in fear of incessant armed robbery.
The residents have come under attacks by armed robbers every month.
The most recent robbery incident happened on Sunday.
The armed robbers invaded the estates with sophisticated weapons.
They allegedly attacked residents of Regal Seaview Estate, Lekki, Lagos.
Residents said the robbers, numbering over 20, arrived the estate at about 12:30am in four vehicles, with sophisticated weapons.
Unknown to the residents,the robbers had cordoned off the estate to prevent the residents from fleeing.
They used their vehicles to block the road at Elf Junction and Ikate Roundabout, both leading to the estate.
The residents said the robbers operated for close to one hour as they ransacked about 10 houses in turn, looting valuables and cash.
It took the combined intervention of policemen from the Maroko Police Division and the officers and men of the Rapid Response Squad in six vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier to get the robbers out of the estate.
The policemen were said to have engaged the robbers in a shootout but the robbers escaped after firing sporadic shots and damaging the police APC.
