Recruitment: APC, Niger government bicker over recruitment, other issues

The All Progressives Congress in Niger State on Monday disclosed that it has uncovered plans by the outgoing Niger State Government led by Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu to embark on mass recruitment of workers to weigh down the next administration to be headed by the party.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the APC in the state, Engr. Mohammed Imam, the party said the first move is a plan to set a booby trap for the incoming APC government in the state.

According to Imam: “The Government of the Chief Servant main aim of embarking on the mass recruitment of workers is to leave behind large workforce that will force the next administration to rationalize the work force and by that paint the next government in bad light before her mass supporters in the state.”

In a swift reaction to the allegations by the Niger State APC, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aliyu, Israel A. Ebije, described the claims as spurious, shameful and gross misplacement of agenda, adding that it is regrettable the party has decided to embark on errand of cheap blackmail to veil its sinister agenda against the people.

According to Ebije: “The comments against plans by Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu to staff the newly established Niger State University of Education is shallow, unfortunate and counter productive; it is the incoming APC led administration that intends to reduce workforce in the state civil service.”

Imam said: “We receive with shock the grand plan of the outgoing government which we consider wicked, callous and selfish; this has further shown that he has no interest of the state and that of the entire workers of Niger state at heart.

“We are surprise that the governor has come up with the idea of recruiting for one University of Education in Minna, the question is that where are the structures for the University of Education beyond hiding under the TERTFUND projects of the College Of Education Minna?”

Imam condemned the act, saying: “We therefore want to bring it to the notice of all Nigerlites that the plan of the out-going government is to create fresh troubles apart from the ones earlier caused by mismanagement, for the incoming APC government.

“The area of sharing 2015 Hajj seats before the expiration of the tenure in May 29 , 2015 is another uncovered plan.

“We also consider this as selfish and greedy, and whoever is benefiting from such gesture should as a matter of advice return such seat which may not be tenable after May 29.

“As a party forming the next government by the grace of God will not take responsibility and liability of the reckless ways, pilgrimage affairs are being handled by the Chief servant’s administration. We are aware that this sharing of Hajj seat before May 29 was being done deliberately to create problems for the next administration.

“The outgoing government may be deliberately sharing the seats to create artificial problems for the incoming administration because they don’t want the incoming government to have the enabling environment to perform effectively, we therefore consider it expedient to allow those who might have been given Hajj seat as a parting gift that they are on their own.”
