The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discourage monopoly in order to grow the Nigerian economy.
Primate Ayodele made the suggestion in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, on Friday.
He explained that businessmen seeking monopoly in several sectors are responsible for the destruction of the economy.
He stated that the unavailability of competition in some businesses has further dampened the economy of the country.
He urged President Tinubu to build new entrepreneurs to discourage monopoly, which, he said, will in turn improve the economy of the country.
Ayodele said: “The government should encourage new entrepreneurs in businesses in order to improve the economy.

“The top businessmen are the ones destroying the economy of the country, they are sabotage to Nigeria economy, and they are the main people wrecking our economy.
“They sponsor a candidate to win an election and in turn, they expect to be given a monopoly in businesses.
“There is nothing wrong in supporting anyone but trying to be everywhere and seeking for monopoly is bad for our economy.
“It’s only one person that wants to be controlling oil, some want to take over the blue economy, some wants to take over importation and other sectors, they don’t want rivalry and it will be affecting us.”
Primate Ayodele further told President Tinubu that these businessmen are not after the interest of Nigeria but their own pockets at the detriment of Nigeria’s economy, adding: “They are not there for the interest of Nigerians, they are there for their own pockets, they say that they employ Nigerians but how much are they paying them?
“They are not helping the government.
“It’s time to change this for the betterment of the country.”
