Pray for INEC to overcome its challenges, Nasarawa speaker urges Nigerians

Speaker, Nasarawa State House Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has called on Nigerians to pray for the Independent National Electoral commission in order to overcome its logistics and other problems before and during the February 23rd and March 19th elections.
He called on citizen not to lost hope with the postponement of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission but to pray that the outcome will be in the best interest of the nation.
This is contained in a statement issued and signed by his Press Secretary,Jibrin Gwamna and made available to News Agency of Nigeria in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of the state”.
He urged citizen not to lost hope but to see the postponement of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission as an act of God.
The statement quotes the speaker Balarabe Abdullahi as advising citizens to be calm and take the pains by coming out enmass next Saturday to vote for their conscience.
He enjoined the people of the state and Nigerians not to be demoralised with the development but continued to pray for INEC to overcome it’s challenges.
He also emphasized the need for the electoral umpire to puts it’s House in order before the new date to ensure the success of the exercise.
Balarabe Abdullahi added that though the postponement of the election was painful and surprising but there is the need for all to accept it as an act of God that will reflect the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians at the end of the day.
He further enjoined electorate and Nigerians to pray for violent-free elections in the interest of peace and national development.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that INEC on February16,shifted Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections till next week 23 February.
The governorship and house of assembly, FCT area council elections had also been shifted from 2 March to 9 March.
INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, attributed the postponement of all the scheduled elections to logistic and operational problems.
He said the postponement would afford the commission the opportunity to address the identified challenges in order to maintain the quality of Nigeria’s elections.
