PDP petitions IGP over APC’s claim of shooting of five children by police

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says the probe ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, into the Sunday’s shooting incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during which the police was alleged to have shot the representative of Rivers South/East Zone, Senator Magnus Abe, is a welcome development.
The PDP, in a statement signed by Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser on Media to the state Chairman of the party, Felix Abuah, also enjoined the IGP to investigate the claim by the Senior Special Aide on Madia and Public Affairs to the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, that five innocent children were killed by the police during the incident.
The party views the allegation as weighty if not more than the alleged shooting of Abe.
It said it must not be seen as a mere joke.
Moreso, Eze, according to the statement by the PDP, said he would not have ordinarily believed such report if he did not personally verify the gruesome murder as well as the attempted murder on two prominent Rivers State citizens by the police, which he noted was commandeered by the state Police Commissioner, Mbu Joseph Mbu.
“This makes the job of the probe panel easier as Chief Eze has admitted being an eyewitness of the incident and should be invited to tell how it all happened so that no stone is left unturned in the investigation,” the PDP noted.
