Omotosho seeks sponsorship of sports

Corporate organisations and wealthy individuals have been urged to contribute their quota to the development and sponsorship of sports in the country.
The Executive Director, Sustainable Health Initiative, Abuja, Mike Omotosho, made the call while presenting kits and items to support Kasali Lasisi International Table Tennis Academy in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Omotosho said the call was necessary as government alone could not shoulder the responsibility.
He called for the diversification of sports with the involvement of the private sector to ensure accelerated development of the sector.
Omotosho noted that the country was blessed with abundant human and natural resources, which must be encouraged to flourish and realise their potentials.
The donor praised Coach Kasali Lasisi for starting the Academy, which he described as a way of giving back to the society.
He called other ex-internationals to rally round such initiative to take sports to the next level, particularly at the grassroots.
Receiving the items, Lasisi expressed appreciation to the donor for his contribution to the development of sports in the country.
Lasisi noted that the Academy is open to all classes of people and pledged that in the next three years the Academy would produce athletes that would represent the country in international competitions.
Items donated included power generating sets, scoreboards and kits worth about N170,000.
