Veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, and ace film producer, Tunde Kilani, on Tuesday described the late broadcaster, Tunde Oloyede as a quintessential artiste that was well respected in the entertainment industry during his life time.
They spoke in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
Olu Jacobs said: “It is very sad that Tunde Oloyede is dead. He was a great artiste, well respected during his life.
“He was a man who enjoyed helping others; very caring and a good family man. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Also, veteran filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, described the late Oloyede as a gem, a professional to the core.
Kelani said: “He was a brother, friend and professional colleague. He was a gem, a good listener, a professional to the core.
“The whole of entertainment industry will miss him every day.”
Also, Faith Egboigbe, the former chairperson, National Association Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners, said late Tunde Oloyede contributed immensely to producing many episodes of the now defunct “Village Headmaster’’.
She said that it was a soap opera that was designed as a societal reformation and individual reorientation tool.
Egboigbe said: “The comic elements in the soap opera helped to further inculcate the messages.
“Tunde Oloyede and his team were imbued with massive creativity which they put into the opera then.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
NAN reports that the veteran broadcaster, producer and director, Tunde Oloyede, died on Monday at his home in Festac Town, Lagos. He was 70.
He was the former President of Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria, producer and director of the popular, now defunct, television drama series “The Village Headmaster”, as well as “Tightrope’’, amongst several others.
Until his death, he was managing his own production outfit, Media International Production in Surulere, Lagos.
