GOtv Boxing NextGen Search prodigy, Semiu “Jagaban” Olapade, has vowed to crush his opponent in the upcoming national Middleweight bout, scheduled for April 14 in Lagos.
According to the organisers, Olapade will trade punches with Chukwuebuka “WizeMan” Ezewudo, in one of the seven fights lined up for the GOtv Boxing Night.
Olapade told the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lagos that he would crush Ezewudo before the final round of the bout.
He said: “Ezewudo still has a lot to learn, he is not on my level as I will beat him silly when we meet in the ring.
“He calls himself wizeman, but I will make him look foolish because he knows nothing about boxing; he will not go beyond the third round.’’
His opponent, Ezewudo, in an interview with NAN, however, promised to prove him wrong.
Ezewudo, who also made his professional debut at the GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, described Olapade as someone with a very weak approach.
He said: “Olapade talks too much; the real man would be determined in the ring and I will prove to the whole world why they call me the Wizeman.’’
In another upcoming showdown, Razak “Hyena” Ramon in the Cruiserweight Division will face Abiodun “Finito” Afinni in a national challenge bout.
The main event of the night, however, is the African Boxing Union Featherweight title fight between Nigeria’s Waidi “Skoro” Usman and Kenya’s Michael “Shaka” Nyawade.
Also, Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde will take on Djossou “Agoy” Basile of the Republic of Benin in a West African Boxing Union welterweight title fight.
The third title bout will see Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu, winner of the best boxer award at GOtv Boxing Night 13, will take on Kazeem “Ijoba” Badmus for the national lightweight title.
African Boxing Union lightweight champion, Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph, will stake his reputation against hard-hitting Prince “Lion” Nwoye in a national challenge bout.
In a clash of debutants, Majesty Maduka will confront Sulaimon Adeosun, while the best boxer for the night will go home with a cash prize of N1million attached to the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
NAN reports that the GOtv boxing night which is in its 14 edition, will take place at the Indoor sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
