The Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Ayodele Fayose, has described the 43-year reign of the late Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adegboye Akayejo, as a period that witnessed monumental development in the town, just as he lauded the late monarch for living an exemplary life.
In a condolence message sent through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Fayose said the departure of the Ogoga was a great loss to Ekiti State.
While condoling with the people of Ikere on the death of the traditional ruler, the governor-elect described the late monarch as an embodiment of humility and royalty, whose reign witnessed unquantifiable development of his domain, adding that his contributions to the creation and development of Ekiti State were immeasurable.
He noted that Oba Akayejo not only lived true to his name and title, but would be remembered as one of the Ekiti State monarchs that always pursued what would bring peace and good governance to the state in his lifetime.
The governor-elect said that the robust contributions of the departed traditional ruler would be highly missed, especially at a time like this because of the respect he had garnered during his reign.
He stated that the late Oba was a blessing to Ikere-Ekiti, while recalling that it was in his time that the town produced a state governor and two deputy governors, the latest being Dr. Olusola Eleka, who is the Deputy Governor-Elect.
Fayose charged the people of Ikere-Ekiti to learn a lot of lessons from the life of Oba Akayejo and forge ahead in unity so that his legacies of peace and development could be sustained, while they look onto God to choose for them a new king that would surpass the laudable achievements of the departed Oba.
