The Niger State Government has condoled with President Muhammadu Buhari, the people of Kogi State and the family of the late Minister of State Labour and Employment, Barrister James Ocholi, over his death and that of his wife and son.
Ocholi, his wife and son died in a motor accident on Sunday.
In a statement by the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa, the state government said the death of Ocholi has left a big gap in the country and the ruling All Progressives Congress considering his contributions over the years to the legacy parties of the APC and the formation and sustainability of the party.
Vatsa recalled that the late Minister was dedicated, committed and pragmatically worked for the realization of the change that the nation presently enjoy but added that it is most painful that the man that worked for the change so much will not be there to see that the change APC promised the people is delivered to the end.
“We in Niger state are indeed pained by this loss, it is indeed a loss that has created a big gap that is hard to recover from, he was a great man of ideas, intelligence, brilliance and commitment to what benefit the people, humanity and the country, he was indeed a patriot,” the statement asserted.
According to the statement: “The notorious fact is that we all have a date with death but Barrister Ocholi death has brought a cold moment to the change mantra; a moment that we should reflect on to continue to work tirelessly to sustain what he stood for and his dream for the country in all his active years as a lawyer, opposition politician, change agent, and as a Minister.”
Vatsa stated that as painful as the death of the late Minister and his wife as well as his son was, all Nigerians should take solace in the fact that God Almighty gives and takes life, hence every living soul shall taste death.
The state government therefore prayed that God should grant him eternal rest and the family, the people of Kogi State and Nigerians the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
