A previously planned family event will prevent President Barack Obama from attending Friday’s memorial service for boxer Muhammad Ali.
Obama cannot attend because the service conflicts with his daughter Malia’s high school graduation.
Senior advisor to Obama, Valerie Jarrett, will deliver remarks and read a statement from the president at the service.
It will take place at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY.
The White House said Ali’s widow, Lonnie, has spoken with Obama on the phone and “has appreciated his kind words and condolences.”
