Super Eagles’ boss, Stephen Keshi, is set to list Locomotiv Moscow striker, Obinna Nsofor, for the Mandela Challenge tie against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The pacy striker returns to the Nigeria set-up in nearly two years.
Nigeria plays South Africa in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on August 14 in Durban, with Nsofor expected to be named in Stephen Keshi’s squad.
That list is expected to be made public this week.
The Eagle Online gathered that Keshi wants to hand Nsofor a chance as he continues to look for the best combination for the problematic Super Eagles attack.
A source told The Eagle Online: “Apart from the inclusion of Shola Ameobi, another player that would get his chance is Obinna Nsofor.
“Keshi wants to see what he brings into the team as the search for balance in the team’s attack continues.
“Everyone criticized the team’s attack during the World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Namibia, and even during the Fifa Confederations Cup so Keshi wants to see how these returnees will fit in and make the attack sharper,” a competent source revealed.
Nsofor’s recall may not come as a surprise, as Keshi said after the Confederations Cup that he is a big admirer of the former Enyimba man, but has been denied of his services only through injury.
