Thugs invaded the Agege Stadium pitch in Lagos State as Shooting Stars defeated the home side, MFM FC, on Sunday in a Nigeria Professional Football League match.
It took the intervention of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, and security men to save the centre referee, O. J. Alaba, from Ogun State and other officiating officials from the enraged fans.
Play was delayed afterwards as thugs suspected to be supporters of the home team invaded the pitch.
Shooting Stars continued their resurgence under Gbenga Ogunbote, securing a slim 1-0 away win against MFM FC at the Agege Stadium.
It was the first time the Olukoya Boys will tasting defeat at home this season.
Ebitimi Agogo scored the decisive goal eight minutes from time.
