NPFL: Sunshine Stars unveils new Technical Adviser

The management of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Tuesday unveiled Kabir Dogo as the Technical Adviser of the club.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Dogo’s contract as manager of NPFL side, Nasarawa United ended two weeks ago.
Dogo had spent five seasons with Nasarawa United after joining them from ABS FC.
At the unveiling ceremony in Akure, Chairman, Ondo State Football Agency, Tajudeen Akinyemi, said Sunshine Stars was never disbanded, but only undergoing reorganisation ahead of the new season.
Akinyemi said the target for the new coach was to promote the team back to its rightful position and earn a continental ticket.
The chairman added that the coach was recruited because of his love for young talents, and is expected to select outstanding feeder team players for the main team.
He said: “There are a lot of rumour that Sunshine Stars has been dissolved, they are not true, it is all about reorganisation process and putting right people in right places.
“If you organise very well, it means that you will get good result; that is why we called on Dogo to come and help us here. His CV has spoken for itself.”
Responding, the new Technical Adviser, said his move to the Akure side was not motivated by money, but influenced by his coming closer to his family in Ilorin.
Dogo said as a lover of grassroots football, he started his coaching career with a paltry sum of N2,500 in Ilorin, and urged all stakeholders to help the team achieve set targets.
He said: “Other clubs might have the millions, but I may not be loved like I am here, my son is in a boarding school in Akure, which formed part of my decision yo be here.
“Before I can enter the pitch, welfare of the players is very important and from the assurance given to me by the chairman, they will be paid. I believe with cooperation, we will achieve greatness with this team.”
The Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, had earlier charged the new technical crew to qualify the team for continental slot by the end of 2018/2019 season.
The Commissioner said only good results could justify the huge investment the government was making on the team.
He said: “We do not expect anything short of a run of good results throughout the season. This is the only way the team can be on top of the log at end of the season.
“Sunshine Stars need to rediscover the form that took them to continental football a few years ago.
“Being the only team funded by government in the South West that is in the premier league the team has to do well.
“The choice of Coach Dogo Suleiman by the management is a welcome development.
“He has a track record of achievements. We look forward to him replicating such here.
“I am advising both the coaching crew and management to work together as division among you could derail your dreams.”
Sunshine Stars finished 18th on the log last season.
NAN reports that the new NPFL season had tentatively being fixed for November 26.
