Kano Pillars Football Club on Thursday defeated visiting Kwara United 2-1 in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Week 16 match, played at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar-Mata, Kano, was watched by a large number of spectators.
Both sides missed several goal-scoring chances in both 45 minutes of the entertaining encounter.
The visitors took the lead in the 14th minute through Emmanuel Agaba.

Muhammad Aminu equalised for Pillars in the 45th minute, while Mustafa Ibrahim finished off the game for the home side in the 90th minute to the cheers of the home fans.
In a post-match interview, Kwara United coach, Kabiru Dogo, hailed his boys for putting up a great performance.
Dogo also said that the home side were lucky to win the match.
The Kwara United boss further commended the Pillars for their fighting spirit.
Pillars Coach, Abdu Maikaba, said he knew even before the game that the match would be difficult.
According to him, Kwara United have good and talented players, which made them play very well.
Maikaba further commended his young team for getting the maximum points.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Pillars now occupied the sixth position in the table with 25 points from 16 matches.
