NPFL: 3SC working hard to escape relegation – Coach

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan has said the team was working hard for more points to escape relegation in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Ogunbote made the assertion on Saturday after 3SC defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes 3-1 in Ibadan in a Match Day 29 fixture.
3SC secured victory through a goal from Tayo Adebogun in the 8th minute and brilliant double from Sunday Adetunji in the 32nd and 37th minutes respectively.
A costly error from 3SC’s goalkeeper, Charles Tembe, gave the visitors their lone goal.
Ogunbote said they were working and praying more for better performances in the remaining league matches for the club to escape relegation.
He said: “This time, every game is difficult.
“I am presently thinking about the next game.
“We are a very desperate team that wants to do all to survive relegation.”
Ogunbote described Fawas Otun, who had just been called to the All Stars camp from the team, as a young player with good performance.
He commended Abayomi Oke, the State Commissioner of Sports, for his unflinching support to the team, saying such had been a motivation for better performances.
Similarly, Coach Abubakar Bala of Niger Tornadoes said his team would give its best to escape relegation.
Bala described the match in Ibadan as a bad game for the team, adding that they prepared hard for the match against 3SC.
He said: “We lost the game in the first half.
“Our players did not react well to the game.
“They lost several chances.
“We are working hard everyday to ensure that we escape relegation in the league.”
Promise Ebiaku of 3SC and Lukman Mohammed of Niger Tornadoes were given yellow cards in the match.
