The Federal Government on Thursday said that it has no plan whatsoever to ban commercial motorcycles nationwide.
The government specifically dismissed the report of the purported ban of commercial motorcycles.
The Federal Government, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport in Abuja, stated that the Federal Government “has no plan whatsoever to ban and has not banned commercial motorcycles nationwide”.
According to the statement, the recently held National Council on Transport meeting did not resolve that the Federal Government should ban the use of commercial motorcycles nationwide.
The government statement however appealed to the general public to discard the media reports as they are incorrect and hence not in line with the resolution of the National Council on Transport.
The news of purported ban, it would be recalled, began making rounds after the annual conference of the National Council on Transport in Enugu State and endorsed by the Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar.
