NNL clubs to complete incorporation

With one month to the start of the 2013/2014 season, clubs participating in the Nigeria National League have promised to complete the mandatory incorporation as a limited liability company as agreed at the last Clubs Annual Congress held in Abuja.
The Congress had set March 2014 as the deadline for all clubs to incorporate their teams as a Limited Liability Company as demanded by the NNL leadership in line with international best practices.
According to the NNL, clubs are required to show proof of certificate of incorporation on or before March 2014 or risk being kicked out of the National League mid-season.
But the Chief Executive of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club of Ilorin, Kwara State, Alloy Chukwuemeka, has promised that his club will meet the deadline set by NNL.
Chukwuemeka said the team has already put in motion the process to complete its own incorporation before the deadline.
He said: “I assure you that most of the clubs will beat the deadline just as ABS will be among the first clubs to complete its incorporation before the date set by NNL at the Congress.”
He argued that the mandatory incorporation is to the best interest of the clubs as it will help to boast the financial base of the clubs who will now be free to do business as corporate entity in line with the international best practices.
Meanwhile, the NNL has revealed that plans have been concluded to ensure that customised branded match balls will be ready for the new season billed for January 25, 2014.
The NNL Secretary, Lawrence Katkem, said in Abuja that the League Board is on its toes to ensure that the equipments suppliers deliver on their promises before the start of the new season.
According to the veteran football administrator, the NNL has already alerted its partners of the need to be ready on time with the match balls, which will also be sent to participating clubs to use for their training to master the new products.
