NMA donates food items to orphanage in Kogi

The Kogi Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association on Tuesday donated food items to Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage in Lokoja.
Dr Kabiru Zubair, the state’s chairman of NMA, made the donation when he led the executives of the association to the orphanage, as part of activities to mark the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the association.
Zubair said that the gesture is part of Corporate Social Responsibility of the association.
He said: “This is not the first time we are doing this, we have been doing it over the years and we will be here often to show our support including offering free medical care, as a way of encouraging you to take good care of the children.
“We commend your efforts and we want you to keep it up.”
Responding, David Abayomi, a member of Board of Trustees of the orphanage, who received the items, thanked the NMA for the gesture.
He said: “We appreciate what your members are doing individually and collectively for us in the state even in this orphanage.
“We are grateful to you for responding to our clarion call, and for contributing to the success of the medical treatment recently carried out in the orphanage by your members.”
Abayomi appealed to wealthy individuals, and organisations to assist the orphanage in any way they could.
Some of the items donated include noodles, paste, groundnut oil, beverages, milk and detergent.
