Nigeria’s King Udoh has become the first professional football player to be diagnosed with Coronavirus in Italy.
The Italian-Nigerian footballer plays for Pianese, a Tuscan club playing in Serie C (third division).
The information was given by daily newspapers La Naziones and La Gazzetta dello Sport before being widely relayed on social media networks.
The 22-year-old footballer, who is currently in the infectious disease department of La Scotte hospital in Siena, is in good condition.
This player had placed himself in quarantine during the last weekend, after feeling feverish.
He was scheduled to play for his team on Sunday against Juventus’ 23-year-old team (1-0 loss), but ultimately did not take part in the game.
Although not approaching opposing players, Juventus decided to take certain measures to observe its players.
As for the entire Pianese team, it is now in quarantine as a precaution.
Italy is the European country most affected by the epidemic.
