NDDC dissociates self from fraudulent skill acquisition scheme

The Niger Delta Development Commission on Tuesday dissociated itself from a skill acquisition scheme purportedly sponsored by the Managing Director, Nsima Ekere.
Dr Ibitoye Abosede, Director of Corporate Affairs, NDDC, said on telephone interview that neither the commission nor its managing director had anything to do with the said skill acquisition and empowerment scheme.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some unidentified persons currently circulate text messages, informing unsuspecting members of the public of their selection for the said empowerment scheme.
The group also promises those they send the messages to some forms of payments.
The text message which displays Nsima Ekere’s name as the sender directs the receivers to visit a website where they are required to input their personal details.
The portal, http://onedigitalng.com/step2/apply.html, displays a photograph and requires only those who have laptops, Smartphones and internet connection to apply.
The NDDC director of corporate affairs said that the commission and its managing director did not authorise or sponsor the scheme.
Abosede urged members of the public to be wary of activities of fraudsters who might use the personal details collected to defraud them.
