This followed one of the resolutions reached at the 9th meeting of the 7th Governing Board of the Commission held on December 8, 2025.
The award was presented to Ogbuku by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, during the 2025 BusinessDay Public Service Lecture and Excellence Awards in Abuja.
The NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in Warri, Delta State.
Speaking at the summit on the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, in the Niger Delta region, NDDC Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Dr. Patterson Ogon, highlighted the key areas of focus to include problem identification, as well as solution design and prioritisation.
Ogbuku stated this at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration organised by the NDDC in collaboration with Ganvic Empowerment Initiative in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.
He said the construction of the road would reduce poverty through positive contribution to the economic growth of the host communities and their neighbours.
Speaking at the Information and Communication Technology Centre of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, where the tests were conducted, the NDDC Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, said that the Commission was intentional about its human capacity development programmes.
Speaking during an interactive session with newsmen at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Ogbuku said that some of the landmark projects to be inaugurated included the multi-purpose emergency shelters in Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers states, which would provide relief to Internally Displaced Persons, in the event of flooding in the Niger Delta region.
