NATH Boys win Metro Pro League title

Nath Boys Football Club have emerged winners of the Metro Pro League 2015/16 season, following their 3-1 win over Remo Stars at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
Nath Boys clinched the title with 34 points to Remo Stars’ 33 points after several weeks of football action in the state.
Ademilua Adebayo broke the deadlock in the 46th minute before Ekene Okolugo’s brace in the 60th and 71st of the tie.
Ibeh Nnamdi got a consolation goal for the Sky Blue Boys from a spot kick in the 85th minute but it too late to rally for two more goal to level scores.
In a post match conference, Remo Stars’ handler, Achieve Yunus, commended his wards for their resilience, saying the Metro Pro League title win would spurs his team to greatness in the game.
Yunus said: “It’s great to win this crown after featuring for the second season.
“It was very tough because there were no pushovers in all the teams that participated.
“So, it is a victory we are going to savour for a long time to come.”
Metro Pro League Chief Executive Officer, Victor Akinyooye, while urging corporate bodies to partner with the league, promised more innovations would be witnessed in the new season.
Akinyooye said: “Metro Pro League has come to stay as fans home and abroad are keen about the league.
“They follow it week in, week out and we won’t let them down in anyway.”
Other teams that participated in the privately owned league are 36 Lions, The Saints FC, Pepsi Academy and Bridge FC.
