The management of Lagos Metro Pro League has called for the immediate release of over 200 girls that were adducted from a Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State.
This clarion call was made on Thursday just before the kick off of the Metro Pro League’ Week 13 tie between Bridge and their Yobo FC counterparts at the Agege Stadium on Thursday.
In solidarity to the search for the missing girls, both teams displayed placards with various inscriptions such as; ‘We want our girls back’, ‘enough in enough’, ‘free our girls’, ‘bring back our daughters’ and many more to press home demand for the girls.
In a voice laden with emotion, the Metro Pro League, Chief Executive Officer, Victor Akinyooye, urged with Federal Government to put machinery are in motion for the release of the girls.
Akinyooye said: “Metro Pro League is part of this crusade as football can only thrive in a peaceful environment. We are touched by this development because the girls our sisters, daughters and leaders of this country in the future.
“However, we also want to implore the general public with useful information to assist the security operatives so that our girls can return home peacefully.”
