Lawmakers to Suntai: You can’t resume, return to hospital

Lawmakers of the Taraba State House of Assembly have told the ailing Governor of the state, Danbaba Suntai, in clear terms that he cannot resume duties.
Rather, the lawmakers told the governor to return to the hospital to continue treatment for the injuries he sustained in October 2012 in a plane crash.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Haruna Tsokwa, told newsmen on Thursday in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, that Suntai was not yet fit to return to office.
Tsokwa said the lawmakers have told Suntai to return to the United States of America to continue his treatment.
The governor, who returned to Jalingo on Sunday had allegedly written to the House of Assembly seeking to return to office.
He also reportedly effected a cabinet reshuffle.
However, Suntai has not made any public appearance or speech since he returned to the country on Sunday.
He was assisted out of the aircraft on arrival from the US on Sunday in Abuja.
Tsokwa said after a visit on Wednesday night by the lawmakers to Suntai, it was apparent he still needed more treatment.
