Ademola Oluwaranti, a Chartered Banker and an alumnus of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has been honoured for Academic Excellence Award and Impactful Mentorship in UK.
The Public Relations Officer of LAUTECH, Lekan Fadeyi, made this known on Saturday in a statement in Ibadan.
Fadeyi said that Oluwaranti was honoured as an inspirational teacher at an impressive ceremony held at the Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
According to him, Oluwaranti is a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Programme Leader, Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership at Botswana Accountancy College, Botswana Business School in Gaborone.
BAC is an institution that runs a Franchise for Sheffield Hallam University in Botswana.
Fadeyi said: “The award is a celebration of lecturers who impacted on lives of students the most.
“It is given to teachers who inspired their students not only to pass their examinations, but motivates them to achieve their goals as students.
“The award is an annual event at the Sheffield Hallam University, UK and restricted to UK lecturers in Sheffield.
“Oluwaranti, however, ended that tradition this year, as this is the first time Sheffield has gone outside of UK to all their overseas partners.”
Fadeyi said that the feat was another honour for the institution in Oyo State and Nigeria.
He said: “Oluwaranti graduated with Second Class Upper in Agricultural Economics & Extension in January 1999 and was the second best student in the department.
“He was the football captain of the Faculty of Agriculture Football Team from 1996 to 1997.
“He observed his National Youth Service Corps at Obiora Farms in Asaba, Delta and completed it in February 2000.”
The awardee joined the defunct Oceanic Bank on December 1, 2000 and resigned on January 2, 2011.
He became a chartered banker in 2003 and was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria in 2015.
