A staunch supporter of President Muhammad Buhari, Alhaji Abubakar Rabiu, who was known for celebrating his returns from medical trips, has dumped the All Progressives Congress for the New Nigerian People’s Party.
The supporter, popularly called Abu Albarka, is known for his staunch support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
Rabiu has made it a culture to slaughter rams and party every time the President returns home from abroad, especially on medical trips.
Rabiu, who is also a prominent politician and businessman, with a large following, left the ruling APC to the NNPP.
He has also bought the form to run for a Katsina State House of Assembly seat to represent Dutsin-Ma Constituency on the platform of the NNPP.
Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving the form, Rabiu said his intention was to contribute to the people of his area.
He noted that the ruling APC has not done enough to make life easier and better for the people.
A close associate of his who pleaded anonymity said the way the ruling party was killing the political ambition of its followers was one of the reasons why Rabiu left the APC.
He said: “APC has embraced consensus in its primaries and is discouraging and that was why people who have political ambition would believe they have no place in the party.”
