Prominent sons and daughters of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State, including the immediate past gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Chief Medical Director of Gwalgwalada General Hospital, Abuja, Dr. Nandul Durfa, on Tuesday left the PDP to pitch tent with the All Progressives Congress.
Another governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Engineer Jimmy Cheto, also left his party for the APC.
This was at a grand rally held in Madubi, the headquarters of Langtang South Local Government Area.
The rally was to mark the official flag-off of the campaign of the APC for Langtang South Constituency rerun.
The defectors said they have chosen to abandon the PDP because of its imposition tendency and lack of internal democracy.
Those who graced the occasion included Fanmak Enoch, Hon. Sargwak Wazhi, Afiniki Venmak (State Woman Leader), Dr. Hittler Dadi and Hamuza Pankwal.
Speaking separately, Cheto, Durfa and Dadi said the PDP lacked internal democracy.
They said the APC had ideologies.
Dadi stressed that the PDP failed many Nigerians in the area of providing good governance and building grassroots politics.
He assured the mammoth crowd of a landslide victory in the Saturday rerun.
He said the APC’s candidate, Hon. Jackson Danladi, would win with a wide margin because he is the candidate of the people of Langtang South.
Dadi accused the PDP government of high level of impunity and corruption.
Cheto said there was imposition of candidate for the last governorship election in the state by the PDP.
According to him, the imposition of candidates was the hallmark of the regime of former Governor Jonah David Jang, adding that this was accompanied by lopsided appointments that favoured people of the same ethnic nationalities both at the state and national levels.
