The Yobe Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam, on Thursday in Damaturu unveiled a bio-metric update exercise for civil servants in the State to validate the status of the state’s workforce.
The Governor, who was the first to be enrolled, commended the efforts of the initiators of the programme, including the Commissioner of Finance and his team.
According to Geidam, a similar exercise conducted in 2007, was not successful.
He said: “At the end of the exercise, we had an increase of salary figure instead of reduction.”
Gaidam therefore hoped that the fresh exercise, titled “I am alive”, would be significantly useful.
The Governor also commended the consultants, who handling the exercise, for a job well done, while mandating them to carryout similar exercise in all the Local Government Areas of the state.
One of the consultants, Aliyu Abubakar, highlighted the aim of the exercise, saying its essence is to verify the authentic figure of workforce in the state.
