Gov. Bello’s party, APC, accuses him of embezzling N220b in one year

High ranking members of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State on Friday said the State has gone under since Yahaya Bello emerged as governor one year ago.
They accused Bello of having embezzled N220 billion.
The members of the State Executive Committee of the party, who stormed the National Assembly on Friday alongside other political gladiators in the State, led by Senator Dino Melaye, said the state had been in turmoil in the one year of Bello as governor.
They equally said crime rate has gone up during the period.
The APC said at present, most schools are under lock and most public hospitals in the state are no more functioning as all doctors in the state have been sacked.
According to the party,: “The past one year has been chaotic indeed and the Federal Government has seemingly not been fair to the state, putting into cognizance the very situation and the deteriorating conditions of the state.
“All the other governors that just spent one year in office accounted for their stewardship nationwide.
“This has led to gross public financial failure and reckless spending by the government as we have it on record that Governor Bello has wasted and lavished over N220 billion in one year. This represents 13 months Federal Allocation to the state, N10 billion Infrastructural Development Fund, N30 bailout fund, over N11 billion Paris Club excess refund. We also have N16 billion Federal Government roads built by previous administration, N700 million ecological fund.
“All these above exclude an average of N600 million internally generated revenue monthly.
“About 80 per cent of workers’ salaries and entitlements have not been paid since January 2016, but the governor and his retinue of aides are officially and privately busy buying exotic vehicles and in addition to that the governor and his Chief of Staff have recently acquired some of the best residential buildings in highbrow areas in Abuja at the peril of tax payers.
“All the public hospitals were filled to maximum capacity in the last eight months, until some few days ago when the Nigeria Medical Association officially called for their closure as a result of non payment of salaries and lack of needed drugs. Illness, diseases and death are on the highest rise in the state, our people are now dying in dozens of avoidable death everyday.”
