The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has promised that the Indoor Sports Hall of the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin would be upgraded to meet international standard.
Ahmed gave this assurance when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Indoor Stadium Complex to assess the repair needs of the complex.
Ahmed said the repair was necessitated by the need to upscale the standard of facilities at the Indoor Hall in order to promote sports activities in the State.
Ahmed recalled that the stadium complex had been a hub of sports excellence in the past as many great sportsmen and women who had made Nigeria proud in the past were nurtured there.
He said: “Sport is a very important means for occupying youths in order to steer them away from crime and violence.
“Hence, my administration will leave no stone unturned in restoring the past glory of Kwara State in sports.”
Governor Ahmed was accompanied on the inspection by the Commissioner for Sports, Alhaji Kale Ayo; and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ayo Samuel.
Ayo commended Governor Ahmed for his positive disposition to the development of Sports in the State.
