As commuters lament the paucity of petroleum products across the country, a tanker ladened with petroleum products on Friday caught fire at about 4:45pm in Minna, the Niger State capital.
The tanker is owned by a major marketer, Conoil, located along Tunga town by Hydro Junction in Minna.
The flame, which caused panic, drew the attention of residents who could not do anything for fear of any form of explosion as the tanker and tyres were blasting as loud as explosives.
As at the time of filing this report, the fire service drove to the scene with their equipment but much damage had been done.
Residents of Minna, who trooped out to watch the burning tanker, kept saying: “God don catch dem.”
A commuter who gave her name as Lubiana, said: “They refused to sell fuel to us.
“They only sell to black marketers at night, but God has exposed them.”
All efforts to speak to attendants who took to their heels proved abortive as the crowd kept screaming: “Na God catch dem.”
