The Super Eagles on Thursday slipped one step down in the latest FIFA ranking, but managed to remain one of the seeded teams for next month’s Brazil 2014 World Cup playoffs.
The Stephen Keshi-tutored side, who last month was ranked 35th in the world, is now 36th in the ranking released on Thursday by the world soccer governing body.
The Eagles, however, moved one step up at the continental level from number five in Africa to the fourth position. With her fourth position placing, the Eagles would go into next Monday’s playoffs draw in Cairo, Egypt as one of the seeded teams.
The top five teams in Africa would be drawn against those not in the top bracket.
The other African countries that would be seeded are Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, Black Stars of Ghana, Desert Warriors of Algeria and lucky survivors, the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The second pot for Monday’s draw will therefore be Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ethiopia and Senegal.
