FCTA to resume demolition of illegal structures

The Federal Capital Territory Administration will resume demolition of structures built on sewage lines, road corridors, power lines and other illegal structures in Lokogoma District.
The Director of Development Control Department, Alhaji Muktar Galadima, made the disclosure at an interactive session with newsmen on Monday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the removal of illegal structures at Lokogoma District was suspended by the development control department in 2019 due the rains.
Galadima explained that all shanties, illegal structures and unapproved structures from Apo Roundabout, through Area 1 to Galadimawa Roundabout would be cleared.
The director said the clearing exercise was meant to make way for an ongoing expansion project of Ring Road 2, where there are provisions for interchanges.
He added that the ongoing projects was also meant to make the area accessible with a view to making it possible for the construction firm handling the project to continue with it safely and in an orderly manner.
Galadima also said the exercise would be extended it up to Sun City and Sunny Valle Estates to make sure that the corridor was free from all informal activities.
