A Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Friday sentenced a 23-year-old ex-convict, Adesanya Segun, to seven years imprisonment for stealing recharge cards worth N6,000.
Magistrate Olakunleyin Oke sentenced Segun following a guilty plea to theft.
“The convict is not ready to change from his stealing habits. You are sentenced to seven years with an option of fine,” the magistrate held.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Olu-Balogun Lawrence, told the court that the convict committed the offence on December 22, 2019 at about 9:30am at Malomo Junction, Oke Aregba of Abeokuta.
Lawrence said the convict entered into the shop of the complainant, Adeosun Olaide, and stole N15,000 cash and recharge cards.
He said Segun had served one year imprisonment for theft.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Vol.1 Law of Ogun, 2006.
