Fight broke out between security agencies and election officers at the Local Government Collation Centre in Ijero Ekiti over Form EC8C containing the final result of the presidential election.
The security agencies, comprising the police, the Department Security Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Immigration Service and others attached to the centre, demanded to have a copy of the results, forcing the officials to reproduce extra copies.
The altercation later degenerated to a free for all, leading to the whisking away of the Election Officer, one Mrs. Ogundipe, to an unknown destination by officials of the DSS.
The Collation Officer, Francis Adebayo, returned to the State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ado Ekiti without the white paper.
Adebayo claimed Ogundipe went away with the original result sheet, while the centre was boiling as he was almost gunned down.
But the Returning Officer for Peoples Democratic Party, who simply introduced himself General Ayeni (rtd), and that of the All Progressives Congress, Ojo Asubuoke, countered his account.
Ayeni and Asubuoke said there was no commotion in Ijero as all party agents related well during the election, adding that the argument was between security agencies and election officials.
The parties, however, accepted the duplicate copy brought by Adebayo as the results.
They said it reflected the results as endorsed by their agents at the centre.
