The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended its former Speaker, Victor Edoror, from the House for three months over misconduct.
The Speaker, Justin Okonoboh, announced the suspension of the former speaker during the plenary on Wednesday in Benin.
Edoror was suspended over failure to appear before a committee, which investigated him over alleged misappropriation of fund.
Following his impeachment on May 4, an ad-hoc committee headed by Emmanuel Agbaje was set up to investigate the former speaker.
Okonoboh said: “The committee set up by the house to investigate the former speaker has submitted its interim report to the House.
“The report here with me stated that the member representing Esan Central refused to appear before the committee for investigation.
“Following the interim report of the committee recommendation, I hereby suspend him for three months.
“To this end, I am setting up another five-man committee led by Kabiru Adjoto to investigate the former speaker and submit report within the period of his suspension.”
Also at Wednesday’s plenary, the House received a letter from the Governor requesting the confirmation of Esther Ikponwen as Chief Judge of the state.
Okonoboh, however, directed the letter from the governor to judiciary committee with a mandate to submit report at its in next plenary.
