The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi says it will deploy 500 personnel for its special Easter operation in the state.
The Sector Commander of the corps in the state, Anthony Okore, made the disclosure Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Okore said the personnel would be stationed at strategic locations of the state to ensure free vehicular movements and generally ensure safety on the roads.
“This special operation will involve administrative staff who rarely participates in field operations.
“We will also deploy over 15 operational vehicles including ambulances to ensure a smooth exercise,” he said.
The sector commander advised motorists to adhere to all road safety regulations to ensure they stay alive to celebrate with their loved ones.
“We will clamp on motorists operating without relevant licences especially tricycle and commercial motorcycle operators.
“We advise drivers to avoid over loading, dangerous overtaking, over speeding among other negative tendencies on the road,” he said.
He added that special attention would be paid to over speeding because it was one of the major causes of road accidents.
“We will enforce the use of speed-limiters especially on commercial vehicles to regulate their speed on the roads.
“We can happily declare that our efforts in enforcing the speed-limiter on vehicles is yielding fruits with many commercial transporters adhering to such directive,” he said.
