The Home-based Eagles have been drawn against the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the qualifier for the African Nations Championship, Rwanda 2016.
In the draw conducted by CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani, and the CAF Vice President, Almamy Kabele Camara, in Cairo on Sunday, Nigeria will host the Burkina Babes in the first leg on October 18, with the return leg slated for between October 23 and 25.
Out of contract coach, Stephen Keshi, led the Nigerian side to a bronze medal win in the 2014 edition of the tournament hosted in South Africa.
Ghana will face Cote d’Ivoire, while Niger will do battle against Togo in the final round qualifier for Zone West B as only three countries would qualify for the tournament.
Forty-two teams are engaged in the qualifiers that will produce the 15 teams to join the hosts for the final tournament scheduled for January 16 to February 7, 2016.
The CHAN is a tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues in Africa.
The first edition was held in 2009 in Cote d’Ivoire, with the DR Congo emerging as champions.
The second edition held in 2011 in Sudan had Tunisia as winners, whilst Libya won the third edition in 2014 in South Africa.
