A Cadet Officer, attached to Ebrumede Division in Warri, Delta state, was on Wednesday knocked down by a motorist.
The killer driver, one Peter Bolorunduro Igbekele, a 25 year-old-man, of Udumorhe Street, Ugbomro town, hit the victim, an Assistant Suprientendent of Police (ASP), with his Ford vehicle with Registration Number EFR 274 XA while on stop and search duty with three others at DSC Round about Warri.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the occurrence at the state police headquarters in Asaba said “the Cadet Officer died before getting to the hospital.”
According to her, the driver has been arrested even as his claims that he lost control of the vehicle is being investigated.
She warned motorists against careless driving, maintaining that “anyone caught henceforth will be made to face the full wrath of the law”.
