Delta gets new Head of Service

A new Head of Service has been sworn in for Delta State.

He is Patrick Oyanbevwe Origho.

He hails from Usipsrun in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

Swearing him in at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba on Wednesday, the state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, charged him to immediately bring his wealth of experience of 32 years in public service to bear.

He succeeds Paul Evuarherhe, who spent only nine months on the seat after the retirement age of his predecessor, Sir Okey Ofili.

After Origho’s tertiary education at the Nigeria’s Premier University, Ibadan, where he bagged a B.Sc (Hons.) in Political Science in 1979, and completed his National Youth Service Corps between 1979 and 1980, he was employed into public service by the defunct Bendel State’s Civil Service Commission in April 1982.

While the governor urged family members, friends and acquaintances, not to mount undue pressure on him for assistance against his oath of office, he expressed optimism thus: “I am sure Origho will not allow his personal interest to override the public interest.”

Uduaghan explained that from the three persons that were nominated for the office, Origho stood first among equals.

He therefore tasked him to work assiduously for the corporate goal of the state government.

In his response, the HoS thanked the governor for the confidence he reposed in him, even as he promised not to betray it.
