Death toll in latest Nasarawa herdsmen killings now 70 – Group

The death toll from last weekend’s attacks by herdsmen on Tiv communities in Nasarawa State has risen to 70.
This followed the discovery of more dead bodies in the attacks, which affected a lot of villages in Nasarawa South Senatorial District.
Villages affected cut across Obi, Awe, Doma and Keana Local Government Areas.
According to figures provided by the President of Tiv Youth Organisation in Nasarawa State, Peter Ahemba, no fewer than 50 persons were also injured.
Ahemba said the additional bodies were recovered from Uluji, Ayaakeke, Uvirkaa and Usula among other villages.
He said most of the victims were those trapped in villages along Agwatashi-Jangwa Road in Obi Local Government Area.
He said: “We are still searching for many of our people missing since the attacks occurred.
“Bodies of those killed, especially at Kertyo, last Sunday and the surrounding villages have not been recovered up till now that I speak with you.”
