An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, remanded a 35-year-old automobile electrician, Chekwube Onar, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his two-year-old step daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, B.O. Osunsanmi, who refused to listen to the defendant’s plea, ordered him remanded in the correctional centre till Aug. 28, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The defendant, who resides at 18, Ariyo close, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, was arraigned on charges of defilement and sexual assault.
The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on June 17, at the defendant’s residence.
Akeem said that the complainant is the defendant’s wife.
He told the court that the defendant defiled his step daughter when his pregnant wife had gone to deliver their baby at a hospital.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 137 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
