President Muhammadu Buhari has shared in the joy of celebrations with family members, friends and associates of a former Minister of Petroleum, Chief Philip Asiodu, whose public service career, started in 1957, and contributions to Nigeria’s economic and political developments remain an inspiration.
President Buhari in a State House press release issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina Sunday believed Chief Asiodu’s public service experience, stretching through the colonial period, nation’s independence and post-independence, served very well in policies and reforms that created the necessary structures for steady growth, particularly in the oil and gas sector, where he pushed Nigeria to a competitive edge.
The President congratulated the retired diplomat, bureaucrat and former Minister for his staying power and relevance over many years, largely driven by new ideas, wisdom and knowledge and a shared commitment to pursuing the greater good of the country, with positive and broad visions.
President Buhari noted the courage and passion of the elder statesman in serving the country, and the zeal in counseling leaders, institutions and governments, even after retirement.
The President prayed that the Almighty God would grant Chief Asiodu good health and strength as he celebrates more years.
