Engr. Musa Wada has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 16, 2019 governorship election in Kogi State.
Wada, a younger brother of the immediate past Governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada, who also contested for the ticket, scored 748 votes to clinch the party’s ticket.
Abubakar Mohammed Ibrahim, the son of another former Governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as Ibro, scored 710 votes.
Captain Wada came third with 345 votes, while Senator Dino Melaye polled 70 votes to emerge fourth.
Others in the race: Aminu Suleiman, 55 votes; Victor Adoji, 54; Erico Joseph, 42; Air Vice Marshal Saliu Atawodi (retd), 11; Emmanuel Omebije, nine; Mohammed Shuaibu, four; Bayo Michael, two; and Jabiru Haruna, 0.
The primaries had earlier been marred by gun violence in the early hours of the day.
Hunmen had stormed the venue at about 2am, forcing the abrupt stoppage of the counting of votes.
